Historic floods in August devastated much of southern Louisiana in the United States; CNN reports that 13 people lost their lives and the floods caused at least $8.7 billion in damages.
In response to the catastrophe, Lenovo donated 50 ThinkPad laptops to assist in disaster recovery efforts. Lenovo has been a longtime Red Cross partner, supporting responses to Hurricane Katrina, floods, and tornadoes in North Carolina and Oklahoma. Lenovo frequently hosts blood drives as well.
From the American Red Cross press release:
“Lenovo understands the significant role technology plays in responding to critical community needs, which American Red Cross successfully accomplishes on a daily basis,” said Scott Ottman, Lenovo Employees Care Campaign executive sponsor and vice president, Inside Sales & Sales Operations at Lenovo. “Lenovo proudly supports the American Red Cross locally, regionally, nationally, and globally.”
